World Vision: Sponsor a Child Letter

Have you ever heard of World Vision's Sponsor a Child program? If so, are you joining it? You should!

Last time, I was nearing to the point of a nervous breakdown:

- my client wanted me to work on a big project;
- I got sent to the hospital because I thought my chest pains meant something really really bad;
- previous work stress is catching up to me even though I thought I was already over it; and,
- I wasn't in the mood to do any work anymore - I just wanted to drown my sorrows with green tea and cheeseburger.

There I was, laying on my bed and cursing YouTube for its slow streaming, when suddenly, Mr. Mailman called my name and knocked on our gate. I thought he was bringing the bills so I felt down again, but when we handed me a letter with World Vision's logo in it, I got curious.

I got a World Vision letter from my child sponsor.

World Vision Sponsor a Child Letter

Five minutes into the letter, I felt happier, lighter and more inspired than ever.

What right did I have to complain about the world?

How dare I take life's pleasures for granted?

I should be thankful for blessings.

I should be thankful for life itself.

Our life's purpose isn't to focus on the unpleasant, ugly and depressing things in life.

It isn't to indulge in materialism either.

We are here because we need to serve a purpose to feel fulfilled.

Maricar, Lexine's aunt, thank you for the letter.

Here's a transcript of Maricar's letter, in case you're interested. It's in Filipino. :)

"Ms. Lianne,

God bless you always.

Nagmamahal,
Lexine at Maricar"
